I decided that the beginning of 2020 is a good year to start blogging again. I will say I have never been a consistent blogger, but will strive to do better this year. The last 2 One Word Challenges have been important at my school, so I have been thinking of what to make my word this year. At first, my word was going to be Strength, but it hit me last night with us going into a new decade: 2020 with all those connotations and ideas that go with that specific number, that my word should be Vision. I looked up the word vision on the Merriam Webster website and it gave me this (with a few omissions): Vision 1a: the act or power of seeing 2a: something seen in a dream, trance, or ecstasy b: a thought, concept, or object formed by the imagination 3a: the act or power of imagination b (1): mode of seeing or conceiving (2): unusual discernment or foresight 4a: something seen b: a lovely or charming sight These are all ideas that I would love to make my purpose this year. I would like to see a path to where I am going personally and professionally, and really see a person's true intentions. I also want to see myself and the library from others' perspectives. The thought that I can take my wildest dreams and try and make them come true is is a positive vision I would love to have going into 2020. Libraries are meant to help a child keep expanding their brains and their imaginations. As a child I had a vivid imagination. I think working on my imagination and incorporating those ideas in the library will help children and the other adults in the building expand their imaginations. Also, who doesn't want to see the wild and crazy ideas they have in a library? (This may help me decorate the library) Who know? The last one I want to say something about is "a lovely or charming sight." I think this will allow me to dig deeper into making myself, the space and my lessons a more welcoming and happy place to spend time. The library should be the heart of the school, so I will do my best to continue to make it that way. I am excited for what 2020 will bring and look forward to sharing my Vision with each of you.
